Heres a blurred shot on a chassis car before we made the new motor plate mounts. You can see the limiters as well.

Hi, I have a 72 Charger that i'm running 10.60's with. I've done a few upgrades and should be in the 10.20's to 10.teens. I was looking at doing the motor plate upgrade as well. How can I get in touch with Andy at AE Engineering. I tried looking it up on my search engine and can't find it. Also would be interested in NHRA Mark's plate with the pentastars on it. Could you send me your contact info Mark? Please email me at raleye72@hotmail.com. Thanks Jeremy

I have solid motor mounts and poly tranny mount! I was thinking about some strap also ( side to side) cause my snout bars come in right where a motor plate would hook up to!

EDIT: I just realized one of my proparts headers tubes is RIGHT under the dr side snout bar touching it keeping the engine from twisting side to side!

Sledge...That's why a lot of people attach the plate to the snout bars by welding tabs on the bars.

I like motorplates w/ NO holes in them whatsoever. The one w/ the triangles cut out would be a pain if you had a lot of stuff to mount to it...like a vacuum pump, coil, catch can, oil filter adapter, etc. Having it solid makes it much easier to position your stuff on it right where you need it.

I know they dont look like stock, and cause some headaches as far as pulley alignment, alt setups. But once you go that route, and see what a easy setup it is, and working on it, you will be asking your self why you hadnt done it before..
And I make them my self. I just used some 1/4 steel and swiss cheesed them to lightning them, and give them more of a custom look. Just used a couple water pump gaskets as temp-lets and went to town. I fired up the Torch and cut the holes, they look like they were cut with a hole saw for the most.
I like doing these kind of parts my self, and it save's me a C-note too
Not a great pic, and have since moved the fuel isolator but you get the idea.

I firmly believe in motor plates.. FRONT AND MIDPLATE with a POLY trans mount.. I've been told about rubber trans mounts contributing to cracked trans cases because of it's ability to FLEX... I have a World products wedge block that is somewhat "stronger" than an stock 440 wedge block,, so I am not concerned with twisting or torqueing like some previous posts... I also think there is NO NEED for a 3/8 plate if you are going to run a MIDPLATE.. A 900HP engine with a 3/8 front plate and NOTHING between the engine and trans is a CATASTROPHE waiting to happen.. ESPECIALLY with a rubber trans mount.. There is FIVE FEET or more between the FRONT MOUNT and the TRANS MOUNT !!!! NOT A GOOD IDEA.... A 600Hp engine could get away with a front plate ( Providing it's 6061 T6,or better 3/8 thick or BETTER ) and a poly trans mount,, but,, I wouldn't try it with a stroker motor !!!

I disagree with you... if you dont use a limiter
you are asking a vertical plate to carry the launch
load of about 700 lbs(static) ... take a alum plate and set
it on a pair of blocks that are at the same width
as the outer mount points... now get up on it in
the center and bounce(and I dont think you weigh
anything near the engine and trans weight) you will
see how much it bows or bends.... now sure this will
depend on how hard the car launches on how much it
will move.... also especially if you use a front and
mid plate you want some movement on the trans mount
either with a stock or poly mount... you cant acount
for chassis flex if its a solid mount... remember
the old math class... 2 points are a line but when
the 3rd point is induced its not always a straight
line and now induce chassis flex that 3rd point is
trying to move

No point in getting in touch with me, I don't sell direct. Contact Mancini Racing if you want to buy a motor plate.

Let me try and explain... An aluminum front plate , lets say 5/16 of 6061 T6 and a midplate made of relatively mild steel and a POLY trans mount on a 900 HP backhalved Challenger, there is NO NEED for limiter straps.. providing you have a STOUT block ( world castings) and a 727 trans with a TRUCK tailshaft housing.. with a POLY mount... Tightened up properly, it shouldn't twist up much at all.. The whole thing twisting up as a unit (including whatever the "body does") is MINIMAL ,,to say the least... There's about .004 clearance for the "basically body fit" 3/8 hold down bolts,,, and if it WAS TWISTING UP, I would lose the almost PERFECT line up when removing and reinstalling the motor plates... I'm NOT a chassis builder by any means,, I just have mine setup that way and it works FINE without any limiters... I think,, in MY SETUP,,, the limiters are a waste of time and money...

nosboy - you and Pbody are talking about 2 different things....

Raff is talking about a fore/aft limiter to prevent forward and rearward movement of the motor. I believe you are talking about limiter straps to stop the motor from torquing over side to side.
