Can you rebuild a manual trans? If not do you know somebody who can? You can buy the Passion gear set and put it in a stock case to save money.

Yeah then I still need the pedals, console, shifter, hump, etc. Not to mention a core which will be hard to find.

If I am going yo have to through the trouble of sourcing all those parts, I think I would want to go with a modern one.

But all that stuff was engineered for you 50 years ago, it all just bolts in, even the hump falls in place just to be welded. After the modern stuff if in place let us know, how it turns out.

A 4000 lb car with 499 cid and a stick will surely break a 8.75 if it hooks. And 1350 yokes and a rev limiter wouldn't be a bad idea.

I find that hard to believe with street tires....slicks I will give you but I would think my tires would spin before the rear breaks...

Guess I could be wrong though.

Not sure if I am going to go this route. I was thinking this would be a 5-6K project - not a 8-9k one. :-(
