Yep. You will have to cut away a section of the floor pan to clear the shifter mechanism and make clearance for the rods. The cutaway will leave a tear drop shaped hole. The hump provides room and also provides a surface to mount the shift boot.

I'm doing a 4 speed conversion on a 69 b body...do I really need the hump? Only if you want to do it correctly, look proper and work well
