You know, I've never looked at the hundreds of valve stems I've taken out/off over the years, but I'm putting some wheels together (for a change) and would like to know - who was the OEM supplier for Mopars during the late '60/mid '70s? Schrader, or Dill? Did Schrader supply the 1/2" extensions (the dimple-topped ball end ones)?

Any help would be appreciated!

iagree

I've only seen DILL in the original rims I've had. These rims were for the 70 and 71 model year, so Chrysler may have switched suppliers before or after that timeframe.

Can you still buy DILL valve stems at the correct length for a 390 or 450 rim?

Edit: I just checked my original rims and they have DILL TR-413 valve stems installed.

Thanks, guys, for the help. I do have a bunch of NOS 413s in the shop, so that's good. These are still available new as well, with correct-looking tops.

Where could you buy them?

Well shoot. A Google search reveals that Dill TR-413 valve stems have been made in China for some time now and that in 2008-09 there was some 30 million stems recalled after some faulty ones were linked to a roll-over dealth.

Doesn't give me much confidence to run some on my car.
