I am thinking of replacing the tired 318 in my 88 Ramcharger with an 89 360 that I have. It's a manual trans in it and I was wondering if I could use the Quick Time RM-531 balance plate with my flywheel? It looks like it would bolt between the flywheel and crank flange.

Pretty sure that plate is there to allow you to neutral balance the engine, as in you trim the plate to balance. Since the applications listing shows all MoPar engines I seriously doubt it will fit out of the box on any of them.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

Here is my guess: The balance plate is for the 360.

My reasoning is that the 360 has the largest amount of imbalance required. 5.9Mag is next smaller, and every other engine is externally balanced smaller than that.

So, it makes sense that the weight would be set up for the largest amount, and can be whittled down for the others.

OP, you can call and get an answer from Quick Time.

I have only had one other 360 with a manual trans and for that one I had my 318 flywheel drilled per Mopar Performance Book specs. That was a long time ago and rather than have this flywheel drilled for 360 balance, I was looking at this plate as a possible alternative. The way I understood what I read, this is specifically balanced for the 360 LA engine. Normally I run automatics behind everything and just use B+M flex plates for the external balanced engines. I have another 318, maybe I'll just freshen it up instead.

Problem solved! I can buy a new 360 flywheel from Rockauto for $65.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer to buy American, however, I've got to go with what I can find and afford. Show me an "American" car, built in the last 20 years that doesn't have Chinese parts on it somewhere. Even Harley-Davidsons have Chinese parts on them.
