Considering trying to make an oil transfer pump from an old big block oil pump. First question- which direction is the oil pump drive spinning this pump? Can this pump run backwards ? The pump body has two holes, a round one and a kidney bean shaped one . Which is inlet and outlet? Thanks for any responses.

The inlet will be the larger of the two holes.
