I was keeping my car race ready this month in case there were any more races nearby, but it looks like cold weather is here to stay. Looking back on my season, I made it out only 7 times and made 30 passes. The car performed mostly flawlessly, it ran 6.55 to 6.60 @103 in the 1/8th mile. I changed oil and checked valve lash at the beginning of the season, did little else. Had to adjust timing a few times when the starter was laboring, I believe the balancer might have slipped on the elastomer, something to look at this winter. My driving was inconsistent, didn't get out enough to get comfortable. My won/loss in elims was 9-7. My biggest challenge was to recover from prostate surgery in April. That ruled out May and June, then July and August heat set in. The first few times loading and unloading my gear at home and at the track were trying, I had many offers to help but I wanted to do it myself. I'm very glad to say that things have gone well. My running gear and tires are still good to go for next year, should be able to get out 12-15 times.

Well I hope to see you out there next year!

I made it out a couple of weeks ago for the first time in 3 years (but have been out numerous times with the street car). Car ran great with decent reaction times. Had a 1.34, 1.34 and 1.34 60 foot. But car slowed 2nd and 3rd runs - ended up shifting straight from 1st to 3rd cause my CO2 tank went low and I didn't notice. I actually had a spare bottle with me.

But I had a blast and can't wait to get out with the car next year.

Busy trying to get the GTX done now. In process of assembling the motor.

67 Coronet 500 (street car) 14.82 @ 94 mph
69 GTX (clone) - build in progress......

Thanks Al, I always enjoy your racing exploits with your son. Best wishes to you as well. MarkZ, sorry I missed you, next year there are several of us that are going to Indy and KK, the local track is sorely mismanaged and is losing racers.
