My car is an original 440 Magnum, but I'm going to swap on a Six Pack. I've got almost all the parts, but I'm missing an air cleaner. I don't want to spend a ton of money on one. I saw this fiberglass base on Year One: https://www.yearone.com/Product/1966-74-...ign=lowerfunnelI was wondering if anyone here has any experience with them. I really like the low price compared to others I've seen. The car will not be a show car, and I'm willing to accept some imperfection.

Know what? All the OEM's use plastic on their set-ups and they all seem to stand up to engine heat............ However.......I hope Dayclona sees this thread because he has detailed experience in this subject. It's aftermarket components, not OEM, so it's probably junk like every half-assed attempt they make to copy the Manufactures.

I bought one of those new in the box at the Fall Fling. Unless there has been a major change in the quality it is a POS. It doesn't fit, the float adjusters don't clear and it was warped.

The AC units that YO offered may years ago were indeed very nice repros for being fiberglass, I purchased and used a variety of their AC bases and lids, however a vendor change must have occurred at some point, as the bases offered in the last few years have really been marginal at best, nothing can beat a steel unit, and the aftermarket has strived to offer almost every option available, sure the prices suck on the steel units, but it's worth it in the long run

I have a fiberglass repro on my 70'Charger. It fits & looks great. No one has every questioned if it is fiberglass or steel?

I have a fiberglass repro on my 70'Charger. It fits & looks great. No one has every questioned if it is fiberglass or steel? The lids can be finished off nicely, once painted, the majority never question it, it's the bases (depending on the type)that some leave much to be desired recently, the early run that YO had years ago where nicely finished and fit multi carb set ups nicely, I bought a HEMI and a sixpack base set up just about 2 years ago, and they had nothing in comparison to the fiberglass bases I bought many years ago, the oldest YO base I have is a T/A base, it's about 30 years old, and has been on the car that long, and has had zero issues, but the recent releases leave a little to be desired, unless you want to spend some serious time sanding/shaping/fiberglassing/modifying to make it appear "factory"... Herbs Parts has a 440-6 Base, Lid, KN air filter, studs, wing nuts and carb gaskets for 470 dollars. This 440-6 base is for a Functional Hood. If your car has a non functional hood the base should have a shield on the front and is more money and harder to find.

The company that made these OE for Chrysler did a re-run of these bases & lids in the very early 2000's. I still have a couple of the ones with the air filter shields & they are new.
So these are no longer available in steel??? (I thought they were still readily available)

I know were at least two Hemi Non Functional Bases are that have the shield. One member on Moparts has an NOS base the other I saw at a swap meet this year for sale. The one at the swap meet was pricey and was not in that great of shape.

Old Direct Connection base made for A/C,used it when I first finished my bird, still around somewhere.
