A few restores here have suggested using lacquer thinner to clean grime from the wires - not suppossed to harm them, use of Q-tips, etc. - and buying new/repro connectors for the terminal ends will also freshen the appearance.

If it's just wiring harness.. I would replace it...it will save you trouble in the long run...

You can take the harness out of the car, unrap it ,clean any overspray with mineral sprits/thinner/reducer ect. Clean all the connecters and re-rap them with the correct harness wrap (Eastwoods,Yearone)and they will look great.

Lacquer thinner is a little rough on vinyl and plastics. Stick with common paint thinner (mineral spirits) or denatured alcohol. Straight Simple Green works pretty good also.

Orange hand cleaner works real nicely for cleaning wires too

I used Simple Green for as much as I could, then LT for stubborn paint overspray and super dirty areas. As suggested, use LT only when necessary as it's a strong solvent.
