I'd suggest doing a bit more research.
Get on the phone and call some people.
I wouldn't buy an oil based on price, nor would I use a group III synthetic, which I'd not really a synthetic.
Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

Dom, i used to run the 15/50 Dominator by Amsoil in my small block. Holds viscosity very well. Expensive, but a great product. I will be using the Dominator 20/50 next yr. Thats what Amsoil suggested for my street/strip deal. No 20w50 ever for me but will check it out further when time permits......

Viscosity needed is to an extent determined by local temperature, check out any newer glove box book - our hyundai diesel lists 10/30 for milder climates but 10/40 for hotter climates and some really thin stuff if you go below 35f - the tolerances on that particular engine are insane compared to our old stuff, measured in thousands of a mm and really tight, its a 17.3:1 25psi boost deal though
Dom are you still in Nevada? its generally hot there? maybe a 30 for winter and a 40 for summer?
If your running smoke free currently use the thinnest (within reason) that keeps your oil pressure where you like it
Maybe go have a look see over at bobistheoilguy

Snake Oil.
Throw a jug of STP in while you're at it?
Google "Amsoil Refinery" and this is what comes up:

Shell or Exxon Mobil. Oil is not rocket science: they know what they are doing. Everything else on the shelf is their "seconds". I'd take the crap on the shelf at Tractor Supply or Walmart before falling for that Amsoil, Penzoil, Quaker State garbage.

That's a Photoshop job on the pic you posted, in case you weren't posting that as a joke. Their blending operations are in the U.S.

10W-30 Yeah, try the 10w30 Dominator series. Religion, politics, and oil are three topics I usually make a point of avoiding.

When we did the Amsoil Mopar Engine Masters we had to use Amsoil--we went with a flat tappet cam using pretty high spring pressures IIRC like 175 seat and 450 ish open and...after break in--and all the dyno pulls we had to tear down for " tech" Those lobes were beautiful!!!! I have never seen any better we broke it in without the inners but my first and only experience with the stuff was amazing I like Brad Penn OK but now LUCAS stuff is available for about half the price and has over 3000 PPM of the good stuff--I have not had anything but beautiful normal break ins with any of the fortified oils on the market but when I can score a six pack of qts for under $30 at my engine parts wholesaler I am a happy camper Try that with Brad stuff or any of the others We have also used a ton of the LUCAS Zinc additive in 30 wt non detergent with fantastic results zero failures--we do this as it is so easy to source for customers all over the country-- I think oil is a very over rated talking point --if some is in there you will be fine --on a roller--and on flat tappets I think you really should keep some decent ZDDP oil all the time Rher Morrison always says 10W30 in anything they build and drag on I like 20W50 and if it cost me a HP or 2 who cares

Hopefully locomotion will chime, he is the amsoil guru My opinion is that a 10w-30 is a good all-around viscosity, which Amsoil has in their Dominator & Z-Rod lines. But I always wondered if the Dominator series may have less detergents or a different additive package because it is marketed as more of a "race" oil. 15w-40......maybe, but IMO 20w-50 is unnecessary, unless you need to boost pressure and/or have extra wear or run bearing clearances on the larger side. A good filter and regular oil changes are also important to long engine life with frequency determined by how hard and how often you "abuse" it. There are other good oils out there, but I always felt that Amsoil offers an extra level of protection, wear and mileage, as seen through personal experience & other sources. Unfortunately, earlier this year I was informed that Amsoil is getting out of the drag racing market, which includes my association with them. Marketing decisions can be difficult to understand, but they are what they are.
