I sent Bob $4k to get aluminum Hemi castings ($2k) and progress payment (another $2k) for my SS Hemi heads last June. I drove up to Detroit using my vacation time and money to see what was going on. Bob and I talked for an hour or two and he said he would start on my heads the following week. That was over a month ago. I'm sure SS Hemi heads take some time and he probably can just run multiple sets of heads for standard porting programs and make more money than a specialized head. I wish he would send a month progress or lack of progress report. It kind of bugs me to see others jump in ahead of my stuff and get their parts in two weeks. I've always worked on a First In, First Out principal but there are always emergency items that pop up. I probably shouldn't have sent any more than the money for castings and then pay off the balance when they were done. It's killing the dream of having a SS Hemi car and making a NSS wedge car look more attractive.

I just talked to Bob about those heads and got the other side of the story if what he is telling me is the truth i would not do those heads either If that's the case, then Bob should call the customer and explain the situation with the heads, return the heads and his money. ding ding ding we have a winner!!!!! Ive tried getting ahold of them multiple times last year and finally gave up.....

When I was doing head porting for customers I would never take one red cent till the job was ready to leave my shop. It always kept me more motivated to finish the job and get it out the door. Some of you guys better rethink your way of doing business

Some of you guys better rethink your way of doing business I thought it was very cool of Marsh Performance to do business that way. I Didn't have to give up one red cent until they were done and in the box ready to ship. I wasn't worried or stressed about time or money because I didnt have anything invested. Soon as I paid the heads arrived a couple days later. Now that's awesome. Needless to say I will be a repeat customer when I need some Big Block parts.

Guys were shocked when I refused money but after I explained they completely understood and thanked me for doing business that way. I always told them to have their heads at my shop by the end of October as I wanted to be able to concentrate on my stuff at least by the 1st week of March.

Well that went full circle ! To bash someone's business and livelihood without having any direct involvement in the transaction is a dick move.

I stated in the first post these were not my parts. I stepped on Waynes toes and have apologized to him. I still stand by my statement any business that takes parts and then sits on them for 13 months is not worth dealing with and there have been other posts about the tardiness of their work.

I know some head guys and engine shop guys. If they are worth a damn, they're busy and backed up. They are waiting on parts. You can't just swing by WalMart and pick this stuff up. They are by themselves or they are short of help because you can't just drag anyone in off the street and have them do this stuff and maintain quality. It's just how it is, especially in a very specialized discipline like Stock/Super Stock legal stuff.
Honestly, if I were going to run my chops and make someone mad at me, I'd pick my wife before I went after my engine guy. A good engine builder is harder to find.

I can tell you custom cylinder head work or development work takes time, plain and simple. My Predator stuff is on a second go around at a well known cylinder head shop, one of the best out there. They take time and money to make them right and make power..
