I have a 588 big block in my 68 cuda. It made 950 with a 1150 dominator. I want to be able to run the dominator, and a 4150 carb also.
Question is what would be my best choice? It will go on a ported 337 manifold. Again its a street car so drivability really matters....

I think that no matter how big a 4150 you put on, it won't run like a dominator. But as long as you're ok with that. The new 4150's have a dual bolt pattern, so it will bolt on to a dominator flange. Talk to Thumper.

Is that a 2 or 3-circuit........... I'm looking for a 4150 that would work for this motor. But the dominator is an AED cnc'd 1150. It is made for street cars, according to them. It appears to be a 3 circuit....

Then why not run it or does it have drive ability issues........

thumper, I am looking for a 4150 carb that would work well with this motor. I have not driven it yet. to run the dominator, I will need a fiberglass hood with a super stock scoop. I have not ordered it yet.
SO until then I want to use the stock hood, so I can start driving it...

You should consider EFI. The 337 intake already has the bosses for EFI and with EFI you can put a very large throttle body on there without compromising the drivability. Also, the EFI throttle bodies are shorter than a carb so there is more room under the hood. Funny, he,s asking about a carb choice and you are requesting he goes EFI Now I know how people felt when I talked down about EFI............

He did say "consider"he didnt you have to or anything like that.. we know you dont like EFI but it does give more hood clearance

Hi Brian My 572 has a Quickfuel 1050 Q series carb on top of a 337 manifold. Throttle response is very sharp. I'm sure the unported manifold is holding it back some as it made more power on the dyno with that carb and a 440-2 intake manifold. The 1150 Dominator was about 10hp better as compared to the QF1050 (4150) carb in a back to back test on the dyno. A ported 337 with that QF 1050 would be a nice street setup I would think. Mine is jetted @ 85/91 and the A/F is high 12's-low 13's across the board. Plugs stay nice and clean ! Ron

He did say "consider"he didnt you have to or anything like that.. we know you dont like EFI but it does give more hood clearance I get it and posted my thoughts on his two choices but wound NEVER consider EFI because as Dragula, sixpackgut,Forrest and many will attest, my stuff is as good, as clean and makes lots of power w/less hassles.......Check out my FB page Mike and you will see lots of vids, a dyno breakin Cutlass and much more...........Good luck to the op which ever you choose...........

My 572 has a Quickfuel 1050 Q series carb... Downleg or annular boosters? I would expect downlegs would be better suited to that carb on an engine that size, but figured I'd ask.
