Jimmy, Here's some stuff I used in the shop for years to seal aluminum parts and clean stained metals...I once soak a piece of bare blasted steel in Gibbs then left it outside for over 2 years...never rusted....I even used it to clean up customers half finished rust job chassis cars. http://www.roadsters.com/gibbs/#intro

What brand of polish did you use?
Dave it's some stuff called Smithbrite. I tried all of the mothers stuff and this kicked it in butt.
Darren it is actually pretty easy to use and it's 11 bucks for an 8oz bottle. Beats the crap out off all the others I had tried.Mothers billet is 15 bucks and did not do the job as easy as this. I am stoked, going to finish my valve covers this week. I may even polish up a few other things since this works so well.
Chassisman thanks I will order some and give it a shot.

Jimmy you'll be amazed....on freshly blasted or polished parts if you treat it and leave it raw when you touch it you see no finger prints or oils left behind.....also the best damn penetrating oil I've ever seen. ....it REALLY works awesome magnesium...just read the testimonials.

With Smithbrite it will oxidixe pretty quick, just put on some regular car wax after you use the Smithbrite and it will last. Smithbrite is the best polish I have used.
I use Smithbrite then spray a light coat of Gibbs that I mentioned earlier.....keeps the oxidation and finger prints away.
