There are some sixpak gurus' on here & hopefully one of em will see this. Off hand I would give it a bit more gas & if no go then pull the plugs & see if they are bone dry or wet fouled.

.................Gave the center carb a little drink...wants to start, but is popping through the rear carb ?? Motor ran b4 the carb change..Nothing else touched... not enough fuel in the rear carb yet ?? Well, for starters: try running it longer than 5 seconds.

Brand new Holley carbs on a 440+6 motor. Gave the center carb a little drink...wants to start, but is popping through the rear carb ?? Motor ran b4 the carb change..Nothing else touched... not enough fuel in the rear carb yet ?? Before you even fire it up, you need to confirm the BASICS, that the installation is correct regarding linkage movement opening/cancellation, that the throttle blades in all 3 carbs open and close freely, no hang ups or stiff movement, hose routing for vacuum pods, vacuum advance, pcv, etc, etc, set and confirm initial fuel level in all 3 carbs before even attempting to start the motor and tuning the carbs air/fuel mixtures, curb idle, etc

That's the hint that does the trick . I never had this issue before, and backfire never leads to anything good, it just happened this time. Thanks !
