Brand new Holley carbs on a 440+6 motor. Gave the center carb a little drink...wants to start, but is popping through the rear carb ?? Motor ran b4 the carb change..Nothing else touched... not enough fuel in the rear carb yet ??

There are some sixpak gurus' on here & hopefully one of em will see this. Off hand I would give it a bit more gas & if no go then pull the plugs & see if they are bone dry or wet fouled.

Well, for starters: try running it longer than 5 seconds. pity

Before you even fire it up, you need to confirm the BASICS, that the installation is correct regarding linkage movement opening/cancellation, that the throttle blades in all 3 carbs open and close freely, no hang ups or stiff movement, hose routing for vacuum pods, vacuum advance, pcv, etc, etc, set and confirm initial fuel level in all 3 carbs before even attempting to start the motor and tuning the carbs air/fuel mixtures, curb idle, etc

Go back through all the basics, spark plug wire location, carb. base gasket and so on up scope
The motor is telling you it ain't happy, it is crying for help work
Now get to work wrench grin

EDIT,try switching that carb. to the front and see if it is the carb. or the location work

I was just thinking myself of cranking it over without fire to fill the bowls of all 3 carbs first. That's the hint that does the trick . I never had this issue before, and backfire never leads to anything good, it just happened this time. Thanks !

Thanks to everyone for the informative replies !! I should remember to fill and check the fuel level in all carbs from now on before I try starting.
