I have a Red AAR and upon very careful wet sanding through the layers of the original paint, I have found that The upper cowl was sprayed red oxide, light grey then textured Organisol. That's all fine and many of us know and its been proven this was taped off and body color sprayed afterward. My car also shows the bleed through where the Rallye Red was sprayed after. The fender tags, fender aprons, core support, hood hinges and hood latch tray were all painted red first on my car. Period. The paint layers tell the tale. Red oxide, light grey, then Rally Red. Then Organisol all over the aprons, hood hinges latch tray core support. Here's the surprise. Back taped and resprayed Rallye Red right on top of the Organisol. ( I was curious as to why is was bumpy and no shine to the Red paint). The layers prove it. What a waste. Tops of fenders are red oxide, light grey then organisol with some overspray down over the fender edges. Then organisol was taped off and the outer Rallye Red was sprayed. Its interesting because only the engine compartment has been painted Red two times, once before Organisol and once after. Very odd procedure. Also, header panel was taped off because under the grille area along the bumper area was painted Rallye Red same as engine bay. I know I'm looking into this a little too deeply but I really want to know the process and why they might have though painting this way was better. Or maybe my car was an error that was corrected? who knows. Anybody else out there sand down the layers of your original AAR hood latch tray or fender aprons to look at the layers? I

Header Panel matches fender tops. Lower area under grille was painted rallye Red right over the Organisol.

I know what some might be thinking...it looks like the black is sprayed on top of the red. Trust me...it is not. I brought the pieces to work to check under magnification. The overspray you see is the red over the top of the black. I also found some tape edge marks from where they masked off (quickly) the Organisol. Fender tags look exactly like the latch tray, primers, red enamel paint, Organisol, then red paint again. Why did the factory paint just the engine bay Rally Red first only to have to detail paint it red again later after Organisol treatment? Is every AAR like this?
