Is the front axle the same between the Cherokee Classic and the Grand Cherokee? Is the Grand Cherokee wider? Are the front drive shafts the same between Grand and Classic? Thank you

I think the overall housing is the same, but I am not 100%. This would apply only to the ZJ grand not the later WJ. I do know the grands have a different axle joint, they have a CV joint vs a U-joint. Supposedly not as strong but lots smoother when turned tight. I also believe they are low pinion vs the high pinion on the XJ(only up to 99 or 00 after that they went low pinion.

I would guess the front driveshaft to be different.
