I need to get a 3 bolt timing chain set for my 470 stroker currently being built. Recommendations would be appreciated. I agree with Cloyes, I use the cam button also, the steel covers are alway pushed out on teardown. Its been my experience that the BB cams do move forward.

The last Cloyes timing set (it was a hex-a-just) I bought used a cheap chain that ended up breaking links.

Roller or flat tappet? If roller you need a cam button otherwise there is nothing keeping the cam gear loaded backwards to the block. Flat tappet cams if ground properly load the cam gear to the block. I use flat tappets in my RB race motors, I have been told you don't need a button with my cams by a good friend and engine builder of mine. That was until we tore down my 500 for a refresh. It might have something to do with the rpm,7000 but the covers are pushed out. Cams have been Lunaty or Comp. I've always thought it was from letting off after the lights.?
