To a fellow Kansan (I grew up in Parsons), the 3 pin NSS on the side of the trans: the center terminal goes up to the firewall bulkhead & forward from there to the "grn" terminal on the starter relay. the 2 outer NSS pins are the on/off switch for power going from up front back to the NSS switch then all the way back to the rear backup lights. Not much but here's a BTT for ya.

You might go to www.mymopar.com & get into the schematics there to help you make some progress. otherwise I would get the harnesses plugged in/wired up correct & then start tracing opens as needed. unless there has been (1) strands broken from flexing (rare) or (2) cut/broken/brittle insulation allowing/causing a dead short or (3) severed strands/burnt insulation from too much amperage, wiring goes bad at the ends/terminals/connections from poor continuity as wiring does not go bad strickly from a normal amt of electrons flowing thru it.

The NSS harness gets one wire ( brown traced yellow ) to starter relay coming from center pin of NSS to ground the relay just on P or N. The outer pins are in and out for the reverse lights on black and black traced white wires. They reach the wiper plug to the bulkhead
