Not sure if this is what you're talking about, but the hood spring was attach to the front latch tray like this.. I don't have any close ups, but I'm sure there was a opening in the latch tray that the spring twisted into like regular production verison.

Three clamps, they go completely around the spring coil.Don't know of anyone making them but shouldn't be too hard to do.

Ahhh, a close up............ Very good.

Looks like, maybe?, that the clamps are VERY similar to the clamps that hold down the wiper squirter hoses along the cowl... Maybe I can check that out when I get home.........

Bill, looks like the clamps completely wrap around the spring base, hence the screw goes through two tabs of the clamps? If that's the case, the squirter hose clamps on't be correct, but may work..

The washer hose clamp would probably work but it is 1/4" too wide and would not have the two tabs to go completely around the spring coil. Also, the mounting hole is too large,if you narrowed it to the correct width, you would be into the hole.

Militarily, I don't have far to go ( 3 years )... Civilian-wise, another 15..

In the mean time, I'll continue beating the internet in search of the elusive Daytona or buyer for my '68 to get that elusive Daytona..

Originals are 1/2" long and 3/8" wide.Anyrhing longer would look out of place and also require drilling an extra set of mounting holes.Still think it would be easier to make your own for all there is to them. Also, the washer hose clip has a bigger opening, doubt it would hold the spring tight to the latch tray.
