It was brought to my attention that there are differences with 1970 Deck Lids. So I am told. At Carlisle I was able to observe that some Deck Lids on the back have 4 holes to accommodate the optional rear wing (70 option only) and others that have 2. My 70 Cuda does not have the 4 holes. My question is what is the correct Deck Lid if there is any differences in the Deck Lid for 70 E Bodies only? Any input will be of great help.

70 without cutouts and 70 with spoiler (go-wing)

Thanks for the great pictures and explanation.I thought the GO WING was a 70 option. Then I can understand to have only 2 holes after that. So how was it determined what car will have the proper Deck Lid installed? I have a late production car.

Early - Luggage rack provisions only

Mid year (December-ish) Luggage rack & J81 spoiler provisions.

Spring - Luggage rack, J81 spoiler & J82 spoiler provisions.

This last style was used into the 1971 model year & then for '72 it was phased out.

I have seen ONE early '72 with it so far though.

To understand this correctly. The 4 hole cut outs were for the luggage provision only for early productions and so on how you described it. Without those options stated it should have the standard cut outs.

your late-'70 model year 'cuda (after Feb. '70 production) should have the "white" decklid pictured above

Unless it did not.

Leftovers were used as needed.

To the OP - do you have any reason to suspect that your deck lid is not original to your car?

The only reason I am questioning the correct deck lid is because another 1970 Cuda owner brought it to my attention. It just so happens he has the same one I have. But he was told about the 4 hole cut out was correct. He has an early production and mine is a late production. I don't think it was replaced. The first picture posted is the one I have.

You are correct, it is the standard one size for all applications 72-4 lid. Unless you ordered a luggage rack, then it would have the four holes with studs from the factory. But ALL 72-4 lids have that same underside.
