Hey guys

I'm currently replacing the upper control arms on my '69 Super Bee. The car is lowered and I've had a tire wearing issue so I pulled the upper arms to install some Moog offset bushings before taking it for an alignment.

One of the arms had a small rust hole, and one of the bushing sleeves was nearly cut in two when the bushing was previously replaced (to remove the outer shell I guess), and while the sleeve was very tight previously, the sleeve no longer fits tight.

I couldn't find another arm locally, so I purchased a pair of new upper control arms (they are shockingly inexpensive), but they didn't come with the sleeves on the bushings like my stock ones had.

I've read that these sleeves didn't come on all cars, so my question(s) is... with these new arms, can I simply skip installing the sleeves on the bushings? I could possibly use this cut one, but it fits very loose on the bushing. What was the purpose of this sleeve?

Thanks!

My service manual said they were used for taxi's, police cars, and Hi Performance apps...

I did not reuse mine...

hi, show car, don't bother. auto cross, high speed, drags, high performance put them on. the serious cars get sleeves on both front and back. the part is called a upper control arm rear bushing support sleeve. ronnie

I cant seem to find anybody that makes them... I've checked the usual places (mancini, rock auto, summit, ebay, amazon, etc) , but who knows what each place might call these things.

Thanks for your help guys... its not a dedicated show car, but I might have no choice but to skip using at least one of these things. I wonder if putting the loose one on loose would be better than nothing? Maybe tighten it up with some pliers?

Thanks again!

I hit up the local hardware store and found some pipe that ended up having an inside diameter that was close enough, and I was able to make it work.

Thanks again!

Did you get them pressed on yet? They should be a little hard to get on like when you pressed in your bushings.

Yes... I pushed them on with the same tool that I used to remove and install the bushings, a ball joint press.

Thanks!

The last ones I did I machined on the lathe and had them cad plated. I do recall somebody selling them but they were expensive so I made my own.
