Hi folks

I am about to stop using the factory trans oil cooler on my stock 4.7 2008 Dakota because one of the factory lines from trans to cooler disconnected by itself with almost disastrous results.
My question is; how relevant is (flow or pressure vise) how high an aftermarket trans oil cooler is located on the vehicle relative to the transmission´s height? I have ample space in front of the radiator but I am concerned with height (probably 6" height from stock trans input/output lines on trans vs new cooler input/output lines location) as well as this new spot being too cool, especially in the wintertime.

Thanks for your input

You'll be fine on both. As we know heat is the worst for an automatic trans. I would get the largest cooler that will fit in there & call it good.

Just find the factory external trans cooler installed on trailer tow package trucks. It will literally bolt on.
