a Dozen calls to their tech line, bigger 'Squirter', Drill out squirter. All still no good. Still have the Off Idle Stumble or lean spot coming off of the idle circuit to the cruise mode.

Do the Eddy 650's have this same trouble?

All linkage is set-up for an Eddy. So it best to try another one.

I think that strip kit, or whatever they call it might be needed. I had a stumble that was hot or cold, pump shot made no difference, so I made a temporary fix by stretching the springs under both metering rod pistons by just shy of 1/8". That's not the correct fix but it's been there a year now and it drives 99 percent better. It's a vacuum signal thing, 500" 400 block with that 528" solid mopar cam.

Springs and metering rods took care of mine. Of course it's just a real mild 383.

Which hole is the acc pump arm in? Use the top hole. I did a rod and jet change (7147 rod,.116 pri jet,.110 sec jet, raised the float level (5/16) , orange spring, idle screws 2 1/2 turns out.

I have zero flat spots but I do still have a metering rod issue where they bounce up and down at idle when the engine is warm.

Switch to the lower springs. Kinda like changing the power valve in a Holley.

I tried the one step lower (yellow I think) than the orange and ended up going back to the orange for the best of the rough idle I have been able to tune so far.

recheck the float level (may need to experiment richer) & yes get the strip kit. No vac leak? ported or manifold?

an off line stumble will probably need the idle feed restriction opened, assuming everything else is right.

If you don't have 15° to 20° initial timing, try that. Then try opening the idle mixture screws a bunch just to see if that makes a difference. If either or both of those help, you know what to do.

Had the same experience but mine is slightly more lumpy over stock.

anyone try one of Thompson performance power blast plates yet? Thinking about putting one on my carb when I get my truck running again.

Step #1. What is the inital timing ?

Step #2. If you are using the vaccum advance, which port is it hooked up to ??

Step #3, what is your timing doing (mechanical and vacuum) when you increase the RPM ?

Where are the throttle blades with respect to the off idle transfer ports / slots ?

Mine run 7/32" float level instead of 7/16". Tip in stumble will usually like the accelerator pump rod closest to the choke horn. Stiffer metering springs will bring the enrichment circuit in earlier. The idle cal is pretty forgiving if the throttle plates are open no more than 1-1 1/2 turns of the speed screw. My race car idles fine with a 285@.050" cam.

Moe, There's some good advice above on how to figure this out.
What may help you sift it out is that the carb is NOT coming off the idle circuit when the throttle is cracked open. The off-idle gets more fuel from the transfer ports or slots, but is also fed by the idle circuit.

This is why people have posted questions about idle-mix screw sensitivity, timing and throttle position.

The idle system responds relatively slowly to changes in manifold pressure. If it stumbles when the throttle is gently opened, then its not likely to be solved with more pump shot. If it only stumbles when the throttle is applied quickly, then its pump shot.

A smaller throttle and venturi (ie a 650) will be easier to tune the idle system. All things being equal, manifold pressure will be higher and main systems will start earlier. It may give up power at the top (quarter mile) depending on displacement and rpm.

Just a follow-up

Installed a Eddy 650 in place of the Eddy 800.

"Pump Shot" had EVERYTHING to do w/ off-idle stumble.

Car runs like a champ now.

Will pull a plug soon.
