Need some help with paint inspection markings on leaf springs.. please post pictures of what you have!

I have seen different color markings on some untouched & restored cars.. but i have seen them in different colors. I thought it maby depended on engine application.. I would appreciate any help..

Im mostly intrested in the colors for E-body 340 cars..

Thanks
Nicklas

This is a great topic. I've also wondered what colors were applied to different springs.

Not to hijack this thread, but I've been trying to find the correct colors that were applied to the 440/Hemi 024 & 034 springs. I was told it was white and pink, but have not been able to confirm from an original E-Body spring.

Here's a pic of an NOS 340 Spring I had at one time. Colors were Teal and Brown.

Thanks Nicklas.

Does anyone have a picture of the 440/Hemi leaf spring colors on an original spring?

On the staggered leaf spring cars I believe each spring would have different color coding. This would have been the visual clue for the workers to grab the correct spring without having to look at part numbers etc... A quick and dirty way to slam the the cars together. My hemi charger 500 has the original springs that haven't been touched but I don't think there is anything left of the paint dabs. I can take a look and see.

I have some survivor cars saved on my computer but none of them have pictures from that area.. i got the info from Dave Wise and i remember seeing a lime green 70 440+6 cuda in a magazine done by Roger Gibson & Frank.. in one of the pictures they comment on the colored springs.

Will keep searching for any original evidence.

Thanks
Nicklas
