Here is my question...

-Would a 727 survive leaving on a trans brake at about 2000-3000rpm when the car weighs 3902Lbs. My trans is a Cope built 727 with all options except a trans brake valvebody...

and..

-What Trans brake valve body would you recommend???

Thanks!
/Tom

I've always ran Griners, but currently have a Pro Trans clean N piece. Cope makes brakes now too. Is your torque converter built for T-brake usage?

what rear end, and driveline?

...and what axles? I'd want 35 spline for sure.

-The converter is a brand new one from Ultimate, and no, I did not spec it out for transbrake use... Stall is +5000rpm.

-Rear axel is a Dana 60 (Dr. Diff/Strange). Detroit Locker, 4.56 gears, 35 spline axels, Chromo 3,5" drive shaft, 1350 U-joints..

Call or contact the converter company and ask them if that converter will be okay in front of a trans. brake twocents scope
Some of the better drag racing converters made years ago can't be used with a trans. brake now whiney shruggy

Depends on power and engine RPM level, how quick it can 60', quality of track prep and tires, quality of components the trans is built with, amount of maintenance you expect to need to perform.

Your combination may be familiar with others here but I don't know what it is. Sorry if I'm the only one here who doesn't know.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

It's really hard on the tranny to use a trans brake below 3000 rpm. Best place to start is about 400 rpm below stall speed.

Converter should have a steel stator. I had an aluminum one discintegrate, wiped out the converter.

-Hmm, reading the responses it seems that a trans brake in my case is more a headache.... Ill just continue and foot brake this combo....

-Thank you for al the posts!!!

CMcAllister***
The combo is nothing that exotic. A stroker 493cid bottom end. Indy "Little" EZ 295 heads, roller cam, 11.0 comp., high rise intake, Dominator carb. 770Hp@6900Rpm/680Lbs/ft@5300Rpm... Still having some issues with getting the car off the line... Also I guess with a transbrake it would become even harder.... My "home" track does not have the track prep it used to...

Any way.. -Thanks again!
/Tom

I'd call Ultimate and see what they say about using your converter w/ a brake. If they say no problem, I'd do it.
