I want to replace the muffler shop exhaust on my 69 440 Daytona and am looking for opinions on who has the best original style exhaust.

Thanks

Depends how correct you want it. Accurate fits great and is made off of original pipes. I have it on a 70 GTx, love it. Fit and sound is excellent.

There are more correct and dated parts out there for a lot more money.

ECS Automotive is another good choice

I think Accurate can even make the pipes out of the period correct metal. I think in those years they were just mild steel piping without any coatings.

Love my Accurate system on my 69 RR, mine came with a little guy that jumped out of the box and put it on the car.

How "correct" does it need to be? The best would be a Gardner exhaust as far as real detail and I would also say ECS for the real anal details. Accurate is great for the 95% crowd (of which I'm one so don't throw stones)

It would be nice if someone made a kit that was 2.5" all the way back.

Call accurate - I'll bet they will do it for you.

Accurate makes a complete 2.5" system.

If you get a Gardner kit and screw something up and need just that one component out of the kit, let me know how that ends up for you.

I just installed my first complete exhaust from Accurate. I bought it because it was the cheapest. It fit my 70 Charger well. My car had turn downs with no tips. It hit in one spot on the left rear shock crossmember but I was able to cut the pipe and move it forward to miss the crossmember. A pretty good fit really when you consider all the bends and differences in cars. Then add the fact that it is and h pipe and shipped on a truck from Oregon. I was pleased overall. The exhaust sound may be slightly louder than stock but it's been a long time since I've heard an OEM exhaust on a 440.

TTI on my 63 and I love it. Fit great and was easy to install. And looks stock. Ron

I just went through this very same situation.
I replaced the exhaust on my '70 Charger R/T this weekend, did some research before deciding on an ECS system.
The old system fit and functioned fine, but some of the bends were not visually correct and I wanted one that was spot on to the originals.

I ordered an aluminized system with the ECS mufflers date coded for my car. I was very impressed with their system. All the bends & details are exactly where they should be. Fit was awesome, no issues whatsoever.

I asked Gardner if I could just buy their clamps, I was told they do not sell just the clamps & I had to buy a complete system in order to get them. No thanks.
My clamps were already in excellent shape so I just cleaned them up and reused them.

I did have to buy better muffler clamps. The ones from Accurate were just too flimsy. They broke when I tightened them up. $4 fixed that.
