I am almost ready to get my 1969 Barracuda on the road again, so I need a spare tire. The spare tire well in the trunk is only 6 inches deep, so I am guessing I need a 5 inch wide wheel in order to fit it all in under the fiberboard cover. However, I have upgraded to retro 15 inch Crager look-alikes with the large bolt pattern on the car. I don't need anything fancy for the spare, but I wonder about the availability of LBP 15 inch steel wheels only 5 inches wide. Does anyone know if this combo exists? Maybe a later model wheel? I plan to mount a P205/65R15 tire just like the rest. Thanks.

I do not believe a 15" wheel will fit in the A Body wheel, so you better check first before you buy. I may have a 15 x 5" steel wheel if you find it will fit. Let me know and I will double check for the rim.

Look at compact spare tires that might share the same/close to overall diameter as yours.

I have 2003 mustang donut spare. You need to grind out the center to get the register to fit.

I am going to a Dodge truck recycler in the morning to see if they have something that would work. It appears some trucks had 5X4.5 BC wheels, but I don't know about width. I already have 15" wheels and tires on the car and they fit great. The tires are only P205/65R15's though. This is not a hi-po application. I will get back to you blewbyu if I need your wheel. Thanks.

As I find them, I collect junk/etc aluminum wheels to sell as scrap ...

I have in the past run across Ford, I think they are mid 90s crown Vic, aluminum spare wheel/tire combos, these are narrow and I am guessing about the height you may need. They are light, and right bolt pattern.

The problem you may have with this is that they might be too tall, too big around to fit in the well.

I would go measure one, but my junk is no where near needing a spare, so I scrapped them.

Just a thought.

It takes gasoline to interest me.

This may fit in the wheel well.

Std wheel for some 225 and 318 D100/150's from 1973 to 1984 was a 4.5" bolt pattern, 5.5"x15" wheel and a 205/75-15 tire.

Yes , the junk yards are a good place to find what you need, You might even find a rim with a good tire on it. I have done that and the price was right.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I found the 15 X 5.5 wheel B5 Bee pointed out, but it is already over 6" thick overall without a tire on it. My spare well is only 6" deep. The salvage yard guys looked up the late 90's Jeep option and found it is a 16 X 4 wheel, which might work, depending on the total tire diameter. They even printed out a list of salvage yards around here that have a Jeep in stock. After I get my exhaust system installed tomorrow and the front end aligned the next day, I may go for a ride through the country in my new convertible to check out a spare tire. Seems like a good excuse to go for a ride.

hi doug, I used a 125-70-14 space saver tire on a stock 4.5" wide a body wheel for my 69 cuda. it dropped the fiberboard to almost flush. I also don't like the board higher than the floor. ronnie

Hi Ronnie- I can't use a 14 inch tire with my front disc brake conversion. In fact I had to grind the caliper slightly to get a 15" wheel to fit! (Aftermarket conversion kit; not Mopar). Is there such a thing as a 4.5" wide 15" wheel? I don't want my trunk board to sit higher than the floor either.

hi doug, whoops... reread no sbp ... I'm doing the same thing with bbp fronts. I think I found a F brand wheel that will work on our 4.5bolt pattern . will post later. ronnie

F brand has the same bolt pattern, but the register hole diameter is slightly smaller. There have been some threads on this subject. You can grind the hole out, but then the wheel is centered by the lug nuts rather than the center hole. Most all aftermarket aluminum wheels work this way.
