Hey guys, while working on my big block, trying to put my new valley pan on. But I noticed theres a huge 1/4" gap on each side of the pan. Has anybody seen this? The block has not been decked but maybe .010 to clean up the deck. Any ideas? Instructions say to fill with silicone but that seems excessive to me. Thanks!

I've an Indy plate similar to this.
It too requires a sufficientl amount of silicone on the sides to fill that gap.
I use the gray silicone and haven't had any issues- make sure you get the four corners at the end of the heads real good.

Try thick cork gaskets on both ends to raise the plate, which will close the gap some.

I went with the "batwings" from AndyF. They are pretty slick.

Looks like it's for a b-block, not an rb-block.

That isn't going to work. Looks like you have the 270 valley plate but you have 240 heads?

For the 240 heads you need to use the standard bathtub type gasket or use my batwing gasket holders or fab your own solution.

There are some long Trick Flow threads on here that explain the whole process.

They are the 240 heads. Thats pretty stupid if they fit the 270's and not the 240's. Nowhere does it say on their website does it say that. How much are you selling your batwing setups for Andy?

$25 plus shipping for a pair of the batwings. Then you'll need to buy a set of paper gaskets. I recommend the 0.015 gaskets from Superformance. Send me a PM and I'll get you a shipping address.

The 270 heads have an extended intake face so they cover up the gap that you are seeing. The 240 heads are not extended so they won't work with the valley cover. I'm not sure why Trick Flow doesn't explain that to people. All it takes is a few pictures on their website and then customers would be able to buy the correct parts the first time.
