What is the difference between the edelbrock torker and torker 2 intakes for a 440?

Torker is the original and Torker II is the newer one. The runners on the original are straighter whereas the Torker II are more curved. I believe the original made more HP and the II makes more torque but I may have that backwards. I've used both and both work well from a mid rpm range pull up to around 6500.

wondering if both of them work close to as well as they say the holley street dominator does..? I got to get something to fit under the hood of my 440 dart. Dont want to cut a hole in the hood..

I've just used the Torker with a carb insulator under the hood of a 69 B body with a 440 with no clearance issues. I'm actually thinking of doing a 440 Dart and was considering using the Holley SD.

Torker II looks like a copy of the street dominator. Curved runners

My mentor decades ago made mention that the torker (which'd be the orig one) had mixture distribution problems but I have never heard that mentioned anywhere since either in person or online.

Find a holley sd. It's the best low intake. You may need a drop base aircleaner with any intake that is taller than the stock iron junk.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

I like the old Torker. They look like outdated technology but they work pretty good. It wouldn't be my first choice if I was buying new, but cheap used ones are pretty common. When I swapped from a Torker to a SD , there was very little difference. Definitely not something I could feel. My best et was actually with the Torker, but weather conditions weren't as good when I tested the SD. This was on a mid 12, B body with a 906 headed, low comp 440. Here's something I found: http://www.hotrod.com/articles/analyzing-six-different-intakes-on-our-440-dyno-engine/

In my back to back test circa 1990.......on a 500hp 440 with the SSH-44 cam, 850dp carb and 2" headers, the original Torker made 550tq and 519hp @5500.
The Torker II made 537tq and 537hp @6200.

The old Torkers are actually pretty good low/mid-range street intakes, but run out of steam pretty quickly after 55-5600 or so.
The Torker II gives up a little on the bottom, but hung on pretty well to 6500.

I had the Torker II on the motor when I had the car running 10's.

Never did a back to back with the SD, but it's supposed to be better...... And I'm sure it is.
The question is..... How much better?

The SD is nice and low though......... But kinda ugly with all those extra bosses and stuff cast into them.
