I have no idea what the bulk trans fluid is but I use the type F in my trans, been for years. Why do you want to ditch the type F, just because you have all of the bulk.... what is the bulk

A lot of people have reported good experiences with the JD fluid in the Torqueflite. Mostly street/mild competition, I don't remember any reports from dedicated racers.

so the mercon 3 is not a good fluid for are trannies. i have a stock trans and have been wondering if this was the right fluid.
I don't think that has been said here.
It has only been said that there is better stuff, and there is.
Dextron3/mercon3 FAR exceeds any of the original specs a torqueflite would have had, and is PERFECTLY acceptable in a drag or street car.
Given the choices of fluids at a modern parts store, the correct fluid for a torqueflite is Dextron3/mercon3.
