In the market for some 1 7/8 Headers for my 440 Trick Flow headed Charger. Seems like the census is telling me TTI,s but a few people are telling me to save my money. Dougs fit just as good.

We run Dougs on a 64 Polara and a 65 Coronet and the fit is really nice with no issues. Good headers for sure. I guess I just realized those Doug Headers are 2". So are you guys running angle plug heads also?

I had to cut the flange of my TTI headers and pull the first primary tube out about a 3/8ths of an inch to be able to bolt them to the head. Other than that, everything fit up OK although a bit closer to certain parts than was necessary IMO (maybe to get them equal length?) , but just saying that even TTI's may need some work to fit.
If it wasn't that, I would have said go with TTI, but I wasn't thrilled about paying just under $1000 for nicely coated headers that had such a fitment issue where the flange had to be cut. the quality on the rest of the header is great, but I've never installed a header other than some real cheap Chinese ones where the flange bolt holes were so badly off.

For the guys running the Doug Ceramic Coated Headers, how are they holding up? I've heard of a few people complain about the quality of the ceramic and they start to rust in some places.

I bought a set of Doug's for my 505 and in 1 year, they started rusting around the flange and spots all over the header. Had to take them off and have them re coated. If I was to do it over again, I would have went with TTI. In all I spent around a grand with the price of the header and re coating them and not including the time of installing them twice.

Was that with Trick Flow heads ? My TTI's fit perfect on my 63 using an RB block and the basic Indy EZ heads. I have never heard of anyone having to cut the flange on TTI headers but I have not talked to anyone using them with Trick Flow heads if thats what your using. I really like my TTi headers and everyone I know using Doug's headers seems to like them alot also. I have never used Doug,s but I know Gus runs them on his 64 and he says the fit and work great on his car as he really likes them. Ron

Personally, i've heard about issues on every brand ov header and every type ov coating out there, factory done, custom done, no matter the cost, that i'd never even bother. I had a set ov near-new (paint already burnt off) Hooker Comps (not even the expensive hookers, and the expensive Hookers aren't on the same level ov quality as the newer brands) last better part ov a decade... and i daily drove it, 12 months ov the year, in the Pacific Northwest. Yeah, they never looked beautiful... but i didn't waste an extra $500 only to see it discolor/pit/rust/peel/whatever either.
I've heard absolutely nothing but awesome things about Dougs. I've had a set in my hands (even my Chevy friends were impressed), and i'm absolutely sold. I'm going with the raw ones, and i bet they'll last forever.

I assume you know that Dougs is now owned by Petronics. They also own the Patriot brand as well. I know several owners that had problems with the Dougs ceramic. Quality gone down, who knows. TTI is probably the best exhaust system out there

I have some TTI W2 Race headers and they fit like a glove. The coating seems to be hanging in there as well but its only been a year and a few thousand miles.

Was that with Trick Flow heads ? Negative, they were early w2 econo heads with an LA bolt pattern. I used TTI's LA header ( the big 1 7/8th tube primary actually fit flush with the W2 ports so adapters weren't needed). The passenger side header fit great. There was no way the driver's side was going on. Couldn't even oval out the bolt holes because it would have put the bolt hole into the primary tube. Only option was to cut the flange. At first I figured it was early mopar casting technology at its finest but when I put the header gasket over the header you can see it wasn't even close. The header gasket matched up perfectly with the head.

TTI is probably the best exhaust system out there I didn't have a clue. That's good food for thought for sure.

I just put Doug's on my 65 b-body, fit and look great. Now hooking it up to the tti x-pipe system.
My 68 cuda has TTI, they fit horrible, one tube cracked right at the bend in #7, and they are rusting between the tubes. They were the polished version when bought new. Drag only car, never seen water.
I took off a set of TTI, in a 70 duster with a small block about three years ago for a guy and put in Doug's. They fit and still look great. Way easier in/out than the TTI. But sb's in a bodies are pretty easy anyway.
A bad tune will dull any header btw.
One thing I don't like about the Doug's is they are made in Mexico. It says California all over the packaging, but they're made in Mexico. TTI is Illinois.

Aren't there two Dougs? Doug Thorley Headers and Dougs. Heard years ago he got a divorce so there were/are two companies.
I want my fair share
