I want to use a TQ from demon sizzler for my 340 rebuild. But have noticed that there is not much a selection of intake for carbs with spreadbores. Any suggestions?

The factory issued ones were not that bad. Biggest disadvantage is the weight.

All the above suggestions are good ones. If you have a really mild 318 or 360, the Edelbrock Performer will work well also and has the correct carb pattern to mount a T.Q. You could find a good deal on a used intake on *bay or here on moparts, David.

ThermoQuads:stock, street/strip and race; 800/850 cfm's, 860/910 cfm's and 1,000 to 1,060 cfm's. New parts for all OEM 1971-1984, Competition Series and SuperQuad carbs and custom fabricating. Carbs bought and sold. Consulting on pre-purchases so you get the right carb the first time.

How would the Holley SD do if you opened it up to 360 port size? It will take square bore or spreadbore without an adapter.

The LD340 and the Weiand stealth can both be opened up to run a spreadbore carb. I believe there is no difference between the Action Plus and Stealth intakes other then the carb flange though. My choice would be just to use the Action Plus.

Mopar Perf has the M1 single plane and Holley made a Street and Strip Dominator with the TQ flange. As said before the Street Dominator has the 318 size ports and is a real low manifold. Both pop up on Ebay from time to time.. The Holley Strip Dominator was really the first AirGap manifold.

What difference is there between a performer and a M1 intake? From what I've seen of the M1 it is a single plane. what is the big difference between a single plane and a dual plane intake. I assume both will accept the TQ. Which would be your choice for street use using a TQ?

Performer is an Edelbrock trade name for a dual plane manifold. M1 is Mopar's manifold name. M1 manifolds are available in both single plane and dual plane. I know the BB M1 single plane is drilled for a TQ carb and I believe the others are as well. Have a look at Mancini's site to see the offerings.

The dual plane has longer runners that help improve low and mid range torque. The single plane has large short runners that improve top end power usually at the expense of low and mid range. For a street car, dual plane is usually best because it improves power and responsivness at RPM's the car usually operates at.

You now saying it is a streeter makes the choice smaller but it still needs more clarification ...

Like car weight, gearing, camshaft, exhaust system ...

PLUS ...is MPG a concern at all ?

I love my LD340 bored out to except the spread.
Just take it to a machine shop with the thick gasket and have them do the required cuts.
Very easy and great combo for the street.

I used the Eddy Performer on my 406" street 360, port-matched to the heads, and one of Demonsizzler's TQs.
VERY responsive, ran great from idle-6000RPM, pulled plenty of vacuum, couldn't be happier.
'74 Duster, A/C, Engle 214/224@.050, .470/.504 lift, 9.5:1, cleaned-up (gasket-matched intake side & bowls opened) iron heads, headers, stock A/T & converter, 3.21 gear, 275/60R15 tire, about 3400 lbs empty. 9.5 with iron heads and 91 octane is the edge of detonation in hot weather, though. Had to pull timing out of it but it does 17MPG @ 70, and pulls very strongly for that gear & weight.

Will the factory gas and trans linkage work with the Performer on a 340 or do you need to buy an adapter?...thanks

Will work fine with factory linkage as the Performer was made as a aluminum replacement manifold for the factory one with a 5-10hp gain.
