Got a strange one for you all. I have a 408 in 74 Scamp. I use a msd crank trigger with a msd programmable 6al-2...run 38 degrees total timing. I have programed in 12 degree retard on the start to help it not work so hard. My issue is that at least once or twice a raceday, the motor has a really hard time turning over, like it has way to much timing or something. It is fully charged and it is not the starter getting to warm cuz it will do it both cold or hot plus have a starter wrap. Ive tried 2 different boxes and 2 different starters. Any ideas?

Thanks
Brad

the automatic retard might be acting up. You might ground the coil wire & see if it turns over normal, which wouldn't be the fix but might tell something. EDIT If you disable the retard function does it act just like it does now with the random issue? If so, that would point me to that retard function haveing an issue.
