Never heard of a 501 small block. I would love to see that article!
Otherwise, IIRC, 472-ish is about it. You can grab a CID calf and enter the biggest bore and stroke combo you know of. Iggest bore I heard of is a 4.22 and stroke being 4.25. If there is bigger, I haven't heard/read it yet.

IIRC, Silva's bullet was built on an AMC block.

It may be ugly, but it sure is slow.

Just did a quick search and found this.

The 501" was a R3 Block that was CNC lightened and I believe had a 4.5" stroke Bryant crankshaft. Indy 360-1 heads also. Pump gas car that ran 9.70s. It was awesome.

IIRC, BPE has a 4.5" arm for a stock block 360 that will go 440+".

I remember the motor but could remember how big it went. Didn't he have some problems getting it to seal water?

I have a 468, 4.185 x 4.25 BPE swinging assembly runs great, small set of W9's pump gas motor, Torque monster. Working on a 471, 4.200 x 4.250 with a good set of W8's. I think you could go 4.25 x 4.5 510cid, the rod ratio would suck but you could do it, just my option.
