I had a Richmond in my 64 Savoy and I can tell you that it's a whole bunch of fabrication involved. There is a guy local to me that I was giving advice to that put a Richmond in his Cuda. He did have to fab his own transmission crossmember and shift linkage. I used a Long V-gate in my Savoy so I needed a substantial hole in the floor. I use an e-body shifter position in my car and had to make my own mount up and at the rear of the transmission. Also made all my own custom linkage with CM tubing and heim joints.

Evidently this trans was installed in a an E-body trailer queen.

It does include shifter and the shifter rods....

It also included a flywheel, BB belhousing, clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. It was installed in a 71 Cuda....how...I do not know.

What did you think of the Richmond trans itself compared to 883 it terms of shifting, durability and general use? Compared to T56?

I picked up a new one with long shifter and rods for my A-body Barracuda. I known it's going to take some major fab work.

Well I liked the way it shifted with the T-10 syncros on the street and I also had a Mcleod Street-Twin clutch that was very good for the street.
I tried drag racing the combo but the twin was too much rotating mass for a clean full throttle power shift. I then sent the gears up to Liberty's to face-plate first through fourth for the ultimate power-shifting transmission. I also swapped out the twin for an adjustable Hays plate and a bronze disc. Now I regret having it turned into a drag race trans now that I'm street driving the car more often now.
I went back to a fully syncronized HEMI box and a Centerforce DF clutch that I'm happy with. I REALLY miss that 3.27 low gear though.

In early 80's installed a Doug Nash in our 71 Vette powered by a destroked 400/.60 over bore small block. Car has a 3:36 rear gear and with Doug Nash low gear of 3:23 or thereabouts, gave me a 5:13 out of the hole. 5th gear on the Doug Nash was straight thru, no OD.

Car thru the Sanderson header exhaust/muffler and 28 inch street cars dial in was 12.5's at 111 to 113 mph as I recall.

Would full throttle shift at 6,500 rpm, missed a third gear shift only once, never ever broke anything. Car and transmission 35 years later still performs very well. Couple of years ago, pulled out its L-88 leg buster clutch and put in a nice comfortable Sach's clutch.

In the Vette was a total 100 percent bolt in except for a re-designed rear mount. Was one of the best buys in cars I ever made.

my friend put one in a 71 challenger with a 604ci hemi 18 years ago.

he had to re work the floor a bit and had to cut out the center of the trans cross member to clear the shift linkage.

Doesn't really help you, but I vividly remember a white 70 challenger with a Doug Nash (and I think a tunnel ram) out of St Louis in the mid/late eighties! Not a race car but pulled the front wheels at Wed-night test and tune. Memory is still with me

The case is much larger than the 833 and the shift linkage is very close to the middle of the torsion bar crossmember. My buddy at work has one in his 4000# ElCamino with a healthy 496 big block. He beat the crap out of it for 15 years and he ended up breaking second gear,the good news is if you do break a gear you can simply slide the broken one off the cluster and slide the new one on.
I have about 170 banzai full throttle passes on mine and I can still drive it about 1000 miles a year so I would say it's pretty strong.
