Whats the preference here? Diaper or Catch pan for my 64? Pictures would be great! Thanks!! Ted Ted.. there is no best answer here.. its what will work easiest for you.. they both will do the same job if done right.. on my junk the pan is easier.. and smooths out the air flow under the car... for others the diapers are easier but make sure you get one that wont burn in high temp areas and no plastic strap connections.. I remember one that Hemi Fred had that has plastic parts that didnt last

The reason the pan would have worked best for my W-9 engine was that it was a dry sump engine so the pump and lines would clear much easier with a pan and it wouldnt have a expiration date like some of the diapers and it would help smooth out ail flow under the car.. but now that engine is sold and I can go with what ever I want and that MIGHT be a pan again

Looks good, might do one on my 64, how deep is your oil pan? Is there any absorbent material in the box? Aluminum or steel? How high up or deep is it, hard to tell from pic? For the rest of you guys, which one would contain the oil better, flying parts not the problem. And Mr P, why would you need a diaper for a dry sump? Granted you'll lose some but not the gully washer of a 8-10 quart pan.

I didnt want a diaper I wanted to build pan and to my understanding I was told that even the pump was to be with in the diaper if you went that way

Granted you'll lose some but not the gully washer of a 8-10 quart pan. My pan is a 10qt charlies pan. I think its around 10 inch's deep. My Kframe is cut and boxed square. The object was to get the catch pan to fit tightly around the K frame opening. Thus the K frame would also act as part of the pan, and runoff from the k frame would go into the pan. It is powder coated aluminum. the pan sits less than 1/2 inch lower then the pan so there is room for absorbant material. I put a few layers of absorbant material in it and used speed tape to tape it down.
