Seems to be a more common failure than I originally thought. After I found it was broken, I snagged a good used one from the junk yard. When I got back home I saw that the housing for my detent ball and spring had a small crack forming so I went back to the junkyard and grabbed a spare valve body for parts. I took the newly acquired spare valve body apart tonite and wouldn't you know it, that one has a broken spring also.
I went ahead and ordered a new spring a bit ago that's suppose to be thicker and better quality. I'll run the good used one from the junkyard for now and install the new one when I change the fluid and filter after a break in period on the rebuild. On a side note, I saw something that said to inspect this spring every 50,000 miles. Hard to believe they wear that fast but I'm starting to beleive it. I'll certainly keep an eye on them in the future that's for sure.
Oh well, It'll be interesting to see if I notice a difference once I get it back together anyhow. Thanks for the input and Happy Easter. -Trent
