In the process of build my new shop/garage. What are some of the things I should consider adding? It will be 40x120 with spray foam insulation with two lifts, a 40x25 equipment room inside. It will also have a bathroom with shower and urinal and small kitchen with seating. My current shop is 40x60 with a 40x25 carport. It's packed tight currently.

I always thought it was nice having a clock and one of those things on a desk that hold pens.

Well I don't have a desk and I don't know how to write so that's out of the question. I was thinking more along the lines different thing people regretted not putting in when the built their shops. 👍🏻

No, I'm allergic to gold. It will give me a rash on my butt. I did think about a padded toilet seat though. Thanks for the input.

Thank you for your input. These are some of the things I will be adding. I know once I get everything in it's going to seem small. All of the equipment, benches and shelving take up a lot of floor space.

I still work in a garage so I'm of little help. I thought having a 14x18 shed next to it was a godsend! Keeps all the equipment out of the work space.

I'm not sure what your weather conditions are where you live but if it was my garage in NJ I would put radiant heat in the floor.

Numerous electrical outlets , and some 50 amp 220v outlets whether you need them now or not. Plumb air lines into the lifts, so you can plug in on both inside or outside of a four post lift. Extra lights, seems to me like I never have enough!
If you coat the floor, be sure and pick a color that will reflect light, like a very light gray.

Add access in walls for phone line, cable line, Ethernet. I know most people use wireless networking and cell phones these days, but you never know when you might need another service setup. Better than running cords across the shop as an afterthought.

A big thing for me was in the concrete heating..
mine is a small gas boiler
EDIT
I sure wish I could have built it bigger like
yours.. but I wasnt allowed then but I can now..
I guess they got sick of me crying the blues so
they changed the rules a couple of years ago
Also.. I see your location so AC... the wife
and I spend our winters in Port A

AC and dehumidifier where you are at. After having a garage with AC, I'd never have one without anymore.

I'd suggest an upper balcony. It gives you a place to store things underneath or a brightly lit work area, and a place to keep the stuff you rarely use or parts storage. Here is mine:

I could save you some money here...just send me the dodge on the lift and the motor on the stand, then you'll have more room and no need to build a new shop. Problem solved. biggrin biggrin

A separate "clean room" if you do any engine building.
