Looking through the part and casting number booklet for drive shaft lengths on a 70 Dart, I noticed two different lengths for the same powertrain setup (340, 727, 8.75). The only difference that one is 3" in diameter and the other is 3.25" They are both 7260 styles. The 3" diameter drive shaft has a length of 44.99" (part number: 2883690). This drive shaft length is good for both 70 Valiants and Darts.

The 3.25" diameter drive shaft has a length of 47.99" (part number: 2883693). This drive shaft length is only good for 70 Dart.

I was not sure if this had anything to do with 2 vs. 4-door? In instances like this situation, I seek the professional guidance of the Moparts forum.

I would think the 70 would be the same length as a 67-69 (same wheelbase) my Barracuda is 44.88" and 3" diameter. I have two Dart shafts that I'll measure tomorrow but they are 3" also and about 3" longer say 47.88" in that area. Not even sure the big joint was offered in an A-body after 69, I'll look at your chart again, what is the body code for dart?
Down at bottom of chart 70 7260 small joint 47.99 3.25
Dusters are same as Barracuda length, Darts have longer wheelbase. 3" longer

The body code for a Dart is "L" according to the legend. Thank you very much for the help!

Simple as this, the chart is condensed to say that the 70-73 Valiant (Duster "V" code) and the 71-72 Demon and 73 Dart Sport 340 cars ("L-Code") use this driveshaft. The other one is for 70 Dart only (2-door hardtop). wave

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.
