One of the big problems is getting a correct inner width rack to work with any of the fronts. I have only worked with early A fronts, and a narrowed rack measuring 4 1/2 inch less than stock barely got me to where I needed to be for proper bump steer. That rack came from one of the race car builders/suppliers. The narrowed rack also moves the steering shaft in over two inches, which can cause a hassle , as I found out trying to get it set up for a GenIII Hemi. The correct width also establishes proper Ackerman angle, which is important for a street car but can be less in a race car if you don't mind a couple of issues when not going staight. By the time you engineer the whole deal should you choose to build your own, IMHO you are as well off if you go to a Mustang II deal, or a strut front. Carefully compare costs versus benefits for your project. I have done two of them, one race ,one street. I posted the street build project on ForABodysOnly. Search posts by gregsdart
