What horsepower are you guys getting with the stock Chrysler ignition? List whatever ignition module you are using, and what era box. Such as,I heard, the old Gold Race boxes are excellent. Orange not so good. But what years were iffy? What compression ratio's? Revenatator customers, what are your highest horsepower numbers for your combo's? Whose electronic distributor and coil are you using? I think this will be a very valuable list for people building and gathering parts, or looking to upgrade parts..Just electronic, no MSD or anything NOT using the Mopar type Electronics.. Thanks

I had trouble years ago at the 600 hp mark with the MP distributor and orange box. I pulled that stuff off and switched to MSD and haven't had any issue since. I run a crank trigger and a 7AL box these days and it works up past 900 hp.

I will be switching to CnP on my next engine. I hear you have some good coils for that? I was going to buy the Holley smart coils but if you have the same thing I might give yours a shot.

I still use the orange MP box I bought in 1999. I also use the older Acell super coil and no ballast. You can see the ballast still on my firewall but its unhooked and has been for over a year. This setup was on my boys Dart and when we put MSD on it his Dart ran no faster and no different. Even started the same so I took the orange MP ECU and have been using it on my 63 ever since. They say its good to 6000 rpm but my son pushed it to 6700 with no missing at all. I shift about 6200 and trap about 6400 and it never misses a beat. Ron

I use the chrome box with the blaster coil and Mopar distributor in my Scamp. Motor makes 500HP at the crank. Car ran it's fastest time of 11.37s.

I ran an Orange box for a long time. The only problem I had with them was they would leave me stranded. I put a no name parts store brand box in and never looked back, ran into the 11.30s on a nitrous 360 before switching to MSD ages ago.

I had a friend that ran an orange box with an MSD rpm activated switch module that would bypass the ballast resistor above 3000rpm. That car was just under 3000 lbs, went 9.30 best.

Only engines I have that are still running stock type ignitions are less than 400 HP. That would be the truck 360 that was in the RamCharger, stock 318 in the Coronet 500, and the stock 73 Jensen Interceptor 440.

Cute. I like it! You could do that to use the chrome or gold box on the street using the appropriate resistor. Paint the box black and hide the switch/relay and it could look dead stock.

The best my car ever ran was with the old Direct Connection 404BC multispark unit then one day it was warming up in the driveway and just shut off.
I wish I could get that box rebuilt but when I called MSD they said it was "unserviceable" Had a chrome box for a while then it melted and died. Couple of orange orange boxes, one good one bad.
Put an NOS MSD 6AL from the early eighties and still going strong with my Firecore distributor.
