I'm in the market for a cam bearing tool, I'd like to purchase a quality piece. What's recommended? What should I stay away from? Thanks A snap On one is better than the Lisle tool. I have both, the snap on one uses O rings and the lisle uses rubber sleeves. O rings are better and easier to work with IMO. Plus the snap on one seems harder more solid when you hit it with a BFH.

that is what I bought (was on sale somewhere online at the time) as they wanted over a hundred (iirc) whay back when I got a quote to do em locally at a shop. just take your time with it & OT I reclock the bearings with a new 1/16 hole drilled on the bench which is PLENTY for cam bearings & 1/8 on the ones that feed the heads tho I feed the heads externally so I do all (5) of em at .0625"

A long time ago I got a good deal on a second hand Snap-On, it seems like a good one.

I bought mine(Lisle) from a Cornwell tool truck years ago, works good, last long time I had to replace several of the sleeves in the last two years, I bought them from Cmp Cams tool company, probably made by Lisle

I bet it is the lisle made one. Not that it is a bad or a cheap tool. Like said above it works just fine. Maybe they don't make one with o rings anymore? My snap on one has to be at least 25 years old now. I just looked at it close, still have the directions with it. It don't say who made it that I see.

I need to buy one myself and Im sure the Lisle ones work just fine and get 1000's of bearings installed everyday, just would like to see the Snap-On one too.

The lisle tool I had came with extra rubber sleeves. The snap on tool uses o rings instead and I have never wore one out. Much easier using the snap on tool because the bearings do not catch on the o rings and slide on and off better and you can tell if the expanders are lined up correctly before using it with o rings instead of sleeves.
They're all probably from the same manufacturer.
