Any of you guys run aluminum caps on the street? Curious to know what they can handle... Last question is how are they "fitted" to the registers in the block?

I run them on a 500" motor on the street. Put on 1000+ miles last year with no problems. The motor puts out approx. 650 HP. I use main studs not bolts, tight fit. Make sure you have the motor line bored to true things up. Hope this helps.

I'm running a set on the street that I got from Scott Brown. They're in a 470" low deck stroker.
No problems so far. Just warm the motor before hammering it.

We have seen no issues with aluminum main caps on the street motors being built here in Canad and their in the US. Sold at least 20% of my setups last year to the street crowd. Remember many of the OEMs are using aluminum mains as well. They are fitted the same way as a stock cap in the register just afew thow more machine fit

Thanks Guys, sounds like they'll work..Greg, what do you mean a few thou more machine fit? Is there stock on the outside ends that has to be taken off for a slip fit in the register? Nice product on your site BTW.

No No we just compensate with slightly more register "crush" than the steel cap

oh gotcha..I thought the "registers" were the slots where it fit in the block.. the reason I asked is because my machinist said the caps would need "fitted" along with align boring and wasnt sure what he meant and forgot to ask him.. Thanks

Well, maybe I got it... You say "crush" you dont mean bearing crush right, but snugness in the block?
