My 71 Charger Super Bee is soon ready for paint and I have decided color, it will be Hemi Orange. The problem is that the actual color differs quite a lot between paint manufacturers. At a show I visited last year three Hemi Orange cars was parked aside and one was pinkish, one yellowish and one redish. The owners were discussing this and they had all ordered their cars EV2... Has someone out there mixed a paint and compared it to the original? It should be possible to find an unrestored car and find some paint behind a door panel that never have seen sun.
I managed to do this when I repainted my 70 cuda In Violet. The answer was to mix the two DuPont shades to get there. Two portions dark and one light. It came out very very close to the reference car.

OK, have anyone here used DuPont thinner based EV2? Let me know what result you got and how you like the shade. Hemi Orange on Dodge and Tor Red in Plymouth language.

Has someone out there mixed a paint and compared it to the original? There's all kinds of EV-2 two-stage in these parts that's dead-nutz... I got 20+ years on a two-stage FC-7 that also nailed it...(Standox)... Find a knowledgeable(read:experienced)paint guy...

Let me do some digging on the formula on my runner, I think its as close as one can get but it was mixed many years ago.
Every GM guy and even my nephew has said its the best hugger orange mopar they have ever seen and oddly they are very close in mixing.
My car dont seem to shade shift like some do when in different light, very consistent.
Ive two cars with this.
Not sure if this is what your looking for....
Here is the formula, mixed in 02.
If you want a bunch of pics pm me your email addy.

That could also have a lot to do with how the cars are used and stored. Red/Orange colors tend to do all kinds of crazy things when exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time. Lots of the vibrant red colors you could get on cars back in the 80s and early nineties turned into browninsh or yellowish orange after just a few years being parked outside. EV2 is an absolutely stunning color when applied properly. Good choice!

I find PPG to be the closest on most colors. I prefer spraying chromabase, but usually use ppg for a better match. My 71 challenger is still in original hemi orange paint but definitely more dual now from the years... ev2 has metallic in, you'd never know looking at my car.

ev2 has metallic.... is it silver or gold in color? I thought I had seen something on that. https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbt...t-metallic.html I can see a hint of silver in mine, at times Ive thought I had a slight bit of dust on the car but its in the paint. So I went and tried to get a pic, took 20 but only the two here I let the camera focus on something does it slightly show. On the top pic right above the flash reflection you can just see it.
