I need a PROFESSIONAL glass installer that has regular experience installing auto glass in early Mopar's...also someone that would come to my house/garage to do the installation.

I have a 1968 Super Bee, and need to have the Windshield and back glass installed, including the stainless trim installed.

I live in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.

Thank you for the help!

Mark

I called Ryan's all glass at the corner of Race rd and Harrison ave on the west side of town to do mine. It was 10 years ago and the glass has been great.

They are still there and I have used them to do plenty of car and truck windshields over the years.

The guy was real nice and came to my home and did a good good job. Used urethane and installed my trim too before the urethane set to make sure everything fit good which it did thanks to my body guy. Because he made me bring my trim to the body shop and made sure it fit before paint.

He told me he did all the old cars for the shop and restores cars on the side. He mentioned a couple times how my car would be safer with urethane windows verse the original buyl stuff. Yours may have rubber?

But like I said it was 10 years ago and I am not sure if I got his card or not. I was there watching and helping but not sure of the guys name after all this time.

Sounds like challenger 1 found someone who has interest in and experience doing the "older" cars.. The new stuff is way different...

I did Auto Glass from 75-80 when I moved on to outside sales.. I am 62 ( next month) and the guys who taught me are all too old or dead who worked on "our" cars from that era..

If the above guy is still around I would grab him...

PS.. Urethane is used to glue in the W/S to the frame, while butyl is used to seal up the gasket type W/S's...

Urethane "glue ins" replaced the tape kit ( the black licorice seal) used to install glass up to 1974 due to federal laws to help with rollover strength of the auto's roof.... Yes it is a stronger bond and MUCH harder to ever remove the WS if used..

Yes, there are exceptions and I am sure things have changed since I was doing glass, but that was the norm "in the day"..

Now they use a cordless sawz all with a duck bill type blade and run that around on the inside glass and get it out in a minute or 2. Then they slap on more urethane on top of the old stuff and lay the next one in. Press it down and lower the wiper blades. I have seen them do one at my place in under 15 minutes. Big trucks are easy, lots of room to work on those. He just has to have a second guy meet him to help set the new one. 2nd guy is only there for few minutes to help set it and then splits.

I called Ryan's a couple of weeks ago, and I got a guy on the phone that told me he could do it...I asked how many he has done on older Mopars, and he did not give me a straight answer.

I really need a name and a number of a professional that really knows what they are doing in the Cincinnati area. Someone that has dome more than one, at one time or another...

Mark

Got a file from my 71 restore out and looked in it. Found the receipt, it was done on 8-30-2007. Unfortunately it does not show the techs name anywhere that I can see.

I called the local number and it went to a call center and I talked to a nice lady and explained what I was looking for. Asked her if I gave her a invoice number if they could look up the techs name and see if he still works for them.
She said they maybe able to do that but I would have to call back on Monday and ask for the murphyburrow call center and talk to Janet.

Since I kind of know the guys at my local store and have a salesman call on me once in a while. I could stop up there Monday and show them my old receipt and I bet they would know who did it years ago and if he is still around if you would like?

A few years ago we had Franks Glass in Fairfield Ohio install the rear window on a 65 Sport Fury show car did an excellent job and very careful around the paint. I would use them again.

I stopped by my local Ryan's today and talked to a lady at the counter. Told her who I was and what I wanted. Showed her my invoice and she says the tech area was blank. I said I know. Explained that he was at my place almost 10 years ago to do my old car and that he restored cars on the side and I wanted to get him to do my buddies old car.

Then she seemed to know who I was talking about when I said that. She goes "was he a older guy?" I think to myself not really when he was there that day? But think to myself, well 10 years went by. nervous haha He was I'd guess mid to late 40s when he did mine and that would put him late 50s today. The women at the counter was in her 20s to early 30s with a baby bump. So that would make "Mike" an older guy now...and me too. eek Yup it sucks. laugh2

She said it has to be Mike Hall and said it is he who does there old car work. Then she says he does work on the side too and I will give you his number. I was surprised because I didn't know how much his bosses would like him working on the side doing glass work? She was the only one there at the time. His phone number was on a large bright green or orange post it note on the small wall above the counter off to the side when she went looking for his number.

So lastly I am not positive this is the same dude but his name does kind of ring a bell. I will PM you his number. What makes me wonder is I thought the guy who came to my home said he was from west of here in eastern Indiana like west harrison or something? The phone number she gave me was today was area code 614. People do move though and a phone number is just that. I'd trust these guys as they have done quite a bit of for me. FWIW

Try the local restoration and show car body and paint guys, Boitnott, Ron's, maybe Barton's. Gary P. is on this site sometimes, he probably sets his own glass. Let us know what you do, I am considering doing a pro-street resto on my Duster when I quit racing.
