This week my two local tracks Bunker Hill and Muncie announced they have switched from the NHRA to IHRA. I'm not sure what the deal is shruggy , but the reactions seem to be more positive than negative. Personally I've thought the IHRA was a little more sportsman friendly.
Has anyone else had this happen in their state?

In the past 25 years most of the tracks in my area have switched back and forth. Most are NHRA now.

Bunker Hill was the shocker for most, it has been a Division 3 NHRA track for as long as I can remember. Muncie at one time hosted the IHRA Northern Nationals and was IHRA up until about 15-20 years ago.
Might be a money thing.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Jay Hullinger getting the axe.

I don't think Jay got "axed" Link

I know Steve Daniels the 20 year owner sold Bunker hill.

I raced Div 3 for 12 years, Jay was at the 330 mark watching right behind the wall at the track for every alcohol qualifying and elimination round. Every time I would coast out and stop to put it in reverse and there was Jay every time...he was a good guy to me.

Jay is a great guy.

I heard a rumor from a reliable source that he did not "retire" he was "retired" in other words encouraged to leave. Again that is a rumor but from someone very close to the source.

I also heard that one of the tracks that has suddenly decided to switch to IHRA was founded by Jays dad back in the day. Coincidence?

I hadn't realized he was the director for 30 years. The new owner at Bunker has got his work cut out for him and I hope he can get the track back to what it once was.
Steve putting a saloon on the property a number of years back wasn't received well.

41 didn't actually switch, it's been outlaw for years. They used to be IHRA about 15 years ago. Good to see them sanctioned again.

They started out IHRA, but little Norm screwed that up. They've been unsanctioned for years. The guys who own it now are getting it built back up and getting rid of a lot of the ghetto crap that went on.

I've seen where they've been having Grudge racing there.
I've been there once to watch an NMCA race, but that's been a number of years ago.
