Anyone running a Holley Street Avenger carb with electric choke and Holley Street Dominator intake on a 1969 GTX 440 with a non air grabber hood know how much of a drop base air cleaner you have to use to get the hood to close without hitting the air cleaner, Thanks , Rodger

Hood is the same air grabber or not, 99.9% sure the carb is the same height as stock.

Intake is not, the standard drop base drop with a 3" filter element is where to start, be careful with air cleaner holddowwn stud length.

running up my post count some more .

Thanks, I found a single snorkel complete air cleaner assembly from a old 440 Dodge motorhome and tried it out with some play dough and its got 3/4 to a inch clearance from the hood.

Single snorkel may starve the engine for ai?

I think you would be good on clearance with a standard drop base 14" with a 3" element, the RR hood has a little more height , I think , in the center than a standard flat hood .

I took a single snorkel unit and with a few mods made it into a Street Wedge air cleaner. The mods were easy and will be even easier if you're not going to chrome the unit as I had to do.

Just remove the snorkel and weld in a small patch. Then, if you're going to paint it use a little body filer and finish the section so it looks stock and paint. (I had to use silver solder because of the chrome.)

Cut the base down to the outside dimension of the air filter and roll over the edge to add strength. Then you're done. You have an air filter that has tons of air available and will fit under your hood.
