Lots of different compression ratios between the two engines throughout the years. Heads too.
On a 9.5:1 440 with mild cam, headers and 750 Holley, I ran 104mph at 3,640 lbs. with 3.23 gears. Stock cast iron intake and 452 heads!
High 12's low 13' with a freshened stock 440 under 4000 lbs. is pretty easy.
'63 Dodge 330
11.19 @ 121 mph Pump gas, n/a, through the mufflers on street tires with 3.54's. 3,600 lbs.
9.92 @ 135mph with a 350 shot of nitrous and 93 octane pump. 1.43 60 ft. 3,750 lbs.

Have a bone stock '77 440 out of a 1 Ton Van in my Charger. Low compression, stock intake, original thermoquad, HP manifolds, 2 1/2" TTi exhaust, 3.23 Sure grip Went 14.91 @ 90+ mph, no idea what it weighs or weather conditions Article I read somewhere, factory performance claim for a '71 4 BBL 440 Charger ran 14.50

STOCK 72 Duster. late model smogger 440, untouched from the boneyard.
67 915 heads, stock. 67 stock iron intake.
Thermoquad
Stock, stock, stock.
Oh it did have 1 7/8 fenderwell headers and exhaust to the rear end.
3.23 gears, with a 255 Dunlop Qualifer.
Newly built ran 13.60's @ 103. Working on the tune up, front and rear suspension, adding frame connectors, etc...got it to 13.30's.
I miss that car..

Stock 440 in my 72. Well it did have some 2295s in it, but I didnt find till much later they were in it. Motor was worn beyond belief. Didnt have squat for compression. 2 lbs of OP at idle when hot.
CH4B intake, 750 Eddy untouched, small tube headers. 3.23s. Ran 14.01 @ 98.46 on basic radial tires. Had to walk it out of the hole.

back in the 80s early 90s I had a 76 Newport with a 400. The car didn't have cats on it. I worked the thermoquad and it ran right with the stock mustangs and monte carlo ss. I took it to the track a few times and I'm thinking it ran very low 15s. Most fun car I ever had

69 Coronet - 3600lbs with me magnum 383 with 750 Holley and headers, 3.91's 14.30 same car but torker+2" spacer, no ps, 7" slicks, 3000 stall 13.20 how I tried to get 12.99 out of that!
69 Charger, also around 3600lbs laden IIRC stock 440 with 750 vac sec and headers, 3.23's 14.02 IIRC That car was no quicker with 4.10's with the stock cam and such
70 Sport Fury 4200lbs the same magnum 383 with 750 Holley and headers, 3.91's as the Coronet had earlier 14.12 leaving off idle on 225/75/15's. That was a mine shaft day and it was never close to that time again =)

Were factory tolerances that sloppy that ETs are that far apart? One B body ran low 13s while another ran mid 15s? Surely a Couple points of compression aren't worth 2.5 seconds

Mopar tolerance on all assemblies could be give or take 1/2 of an inch! Also consider the diff in drivers...race ready weights, weather, track conditions, etc. It's totally apples and oranges.
