Hello all, new guy here. I did some searching, but didn't find a P/N for a harmonic balancer speedi sleeve. I would like one that is commonly available and reasonably priced since it seems there are some higher than others. Any help would be appreciated.

The last one I got was in a Fel Pro timing cover gasket set. The set was about $10 higher than the set w/o the sleeve.

Does anyone know if there is a pre-fix or extra digit added to the timing cover gasket kit so you get the one with a sleeve? The parts people around here are getting REALLY bad as of late, and our old school parts house closed and turned into another chain store.

What engine?

The Slant and small block kits have a different part number for w or w/o sleeve. There is only about $3 difference in price now too. Fel Pro kits at Vatozone.

Sorry, it's the 440 for my X. I could check at my local Vatozone again. Yesterday I had Mr. Fast/Furious ricer looking dude helping me. He didn't even comment about the engine size like most parts monkeys do Is there something I can add to the P/N, or will it show two kits?

Vatozone does not list a kit with sleeve for the pig block.

I think Napa had the sheapest sleeveNseals. That is what they are listed as in the Fel Pro literature IIRC.

This is the thin sleeve that slips over the harmonic balancer snout to cover the wear groove that can lead to leaks right? What on earth would the "installation tool" be????

National & C/R sell speedi-sleeves with a flanged area on the side that is installed first on the seal surface...That means the sleeve is pulled on rather than pushed on which can cause the sleeve to collapse...The flanged area is designed to be easily peeled off once the sleeve is installed...The installer is basically a tin cap that fits over the sleeve & applies pressure to the flange...It's a better design than the Fel-pro sleeve...

I had to put a National sleeve on one of the camshafts on my work Neon. Unless I'm an idiot, you can't put that sleeve on the intended way, lip first. There's not enough journal. I put it on backwards with a driver on the lip. But I have to admit, I was puckered the whole time I was driving it on.

Did you remove the rolled lip at the cut line?

After I had the sleeve driven back to the point where the cut line was at the front (gear) end of the journal, yes, then I cut the lip off.

I'm guessing there is a larger stepped area that limited how far you could have installed the sleeve? Cause typically that isn't an issue but in you application the stepped sleeve may not have been the best choice...But then again apparently it's working...

If I drove the sleeve on lip first the way you should, the lip ran into the first camshaft bearing journal before the sleeve was fully in place. If I cut the lip off first, then I'd be driving on the sleeve itself and I could see trouble all over that. That's why I drove it on in the reverse direction with the lip on the gear end of the sleeve. I couldn't see any other way to do it.

Sounds like you choose the best option..Those sleeves aren't really application specific, they are made for most standard shaft sizes both std & metric & in various widths...I've installed speedi-sleeves on shafts over 12" in diameter...
