I had to grind ALOT off my Eddy head to clear the Pertronix billet distributor.

First, the stamped chain cover from 440sourse sucks. Looks like it was stamped wrong as the crank snout opening was to the left of center.Had to drill the pin locating holes in the pan much larger. Loosen all the bolts and I think it self centered as I installed the damper. Looked ok when I was done.Hope it don't leak. The timing indicator from 440 also was a joke. Not even close to TDC, off by 4* and best I could do adjusting was still 2* off. I will always send stuff back before I try to make it fit. These companies need to learn parts that don't fit are unacceptable and they need to tighten down on their manufacturer. As far as the distributor, on my lowdeck with Victor heads, it's super close so I'm surprised they haven't made a casting change yet.

There is a off set dist for those engines... I forget who makes it.. it has a belt that turn the second shaft(a shaft up from the engine to a cogged belt to a second shaft that is the dist)

How about indexing the dist over 1 wire? My understanding is the dist housing hits the head.. not the vac pot so indexing wouldnt change it.. most of the guys clearance the head or go with the off set dist EDIT Also Dave.. have your valve covers on also to make sure they clear.. I heard some had to re- work that corner of the covers... when I mocked up my mega block with B1 m/c heads the dist was hitting.. I didnt have V/Cs at that time but I think they would have crashed.. thats why I was looking at the off set dist

ok, ill wait til the covers get here. May get a different dist. Doesn't Firecore offer a dist. for this issue? I think so but will not help the valve cover on/off.What rockers? My HS stick over the seal lip.
